November 16, 2025, 133 B Model Town East, Ghaziabad, Headquarters National Soldiers' Association – An online Zoom meeting of the National Soldiers' Association's Disability Wing was held here today. ??Presiding over the meeting, the National President of the National Soldiers' Association, Colonel Tejinder Pal Tyagi, recipient of the Vir Chakra, stated that in accordance with the United Nations guidelines regarding persons with disabilities, the old Disability Act was amended and the RPWD Act (Rights of Persons with Disabilities) was enacted in 2016. This Act emphasizes granting rights to persons with disabilities, moving away from the concept of care and compassion. The Preamble of the Indian Constitution begins with the principle of Fraternity with Dignity of the Individual. Article 21 of the Constitution guarantees the right to life for all. Therefore, persons with disabilities now need representation with dignity, not just compassion.
