Colonel Tejendra Pal Tyagi (Vir Chakra awardee), National President of the Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha, stated that a nation's true and ethical identity is defined not by its GDP, but by the respect its people show towards persons with disabilities and martyrs. Every person with a disability is a national asset. God has provided two hands alongside the mouth; this implies that every person with a disability is also a resource. A limitation in one limb is balanced by capabilities in others. Colonel Tyagi mentioned that the Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha maintains a dedicated wing for persons with disabilities. In accordance with current legislation, persons with disabilities require rights, not merely assistance.
