July 26, 2026, Kargil Chowk, Vaishali Sector 6, Ghaziabad – Today, the foundation stone for a proposed memorial—featuring an inverted rifle covered by a helmet and an umbrella—was laid at Kargil Chowk, near the district headquarters of the Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha, by the chief guest, Honorable Councilor Shri Naresh Bhati. He remarked that while statues of great luminaries and various roundabouts (chawks) have been established across Ghaziabad, a Kargil Chowk was missing. He expressed his happiness at having the opportunity to lay the foundation stone for this memorial dedicated to the Kargil martyrs at Kargil Chowk in Sector 6, Vaishali. The establishment of Kargil Chowk will inspire the youth, conveying a message of patriotism, national unity, and character building. Shri Abhinav, founder of Arwachin Public School, Vasundhara, has voluntarily pledged to provide full financial support for the project.

Colonel Tejendra Pal Tyagi (Vir Chakra awardee), the National President of the Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha and a special guest at the ceremony, stated that the Kargil War was an exceptionally difficult and perilous conflict. The enemy was positioned at an altitude of 5,000 meters while our forces were on the ground. There were no routes for ascent, and the mountains lacked dense vegetation—meaning there was no natural cover—and initially, there was no air support either. The exact locations of enemy bunkers were unknown; there were only estimates. Despite these challenges, the valor displayed by Indian soldiers transcended all bounds of praise and heroism. Therefore, we are continuously working on national integration and character building—an unbroken chain of efforts that begins with honoring the sacrifices of our martyrs. Kargil Chowk will keep this memory alive.
